5 Effective Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

After a facial, our skin looks rejuvenated, healthy, and radiant. Is there a way to keep it that way between two treatments? Yes, thanks to the home remedies for glowing skin effect!

They are natural, convenient, inexpensive, and effective. They can always come in handy as they are a natural alternative to cosmetic products - you probably already have all the ingredients in your kitchen.

But is this necessary? That extra care? If you have a stressful lifestyle with hectic work schedule, inadequate sleep, lack of nutritional diet, and if you’re exposed to harmful sun rays you probably have dull and dry skin - especially if you’re a smoker or if you enjoy a drink or two after work. Now, in order to keep both your skin and your body healthy in the long run, you’ll have to change a habit or two. When you mix those lifestyle changes with effective home remedies it’s more than likely that your skin will show its gratitude. All that extra care can pay off in skin that visibly glows.

1: Bananas

Never underestimate this fruit. It contains moisture, potassium, and vitamins E and C which are responsible for promoting clear skin. Bananas are all also enriched in minerals that can make your skin radiant and making a mixture is super easy.

Take a banana, mash it and add some milk to it. You could also add some ice cubs before you apply this on the face and neck. Keep it on for 20 minutes, rinse off with water and pat dry. Do this 2-3 times a week.

Pro tip: Use a ripe banana as it has more beneficial effects that an unripe one.

2: Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera will not only make your skin smell great, but it will also make it smooth and glowing. If you have bumps and minor breakouts on your skin, it heals them too. There are a couple of ways you can use this plant – the first one would be to scrape out the gel from the leaf, mash it and massage onto the skin. Let it sit for 10 minutes and rinse with cold water.

You can also mix Aloe Vera gel with a pinch of turmeric, a tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of milk. Apply this mixture and keep it for 20 minutes, wash it off with lukewarm water and pat it dry.

3: Avocado

The avocado works wonders for dry skin! Mash it and apply onto clean skin, slowly massaging it. Leave it on for 15 minutes before you rinse with milk and then water. This plant is full of healthy fats, vitamins, and antioxidants. That’s why it’s great for your skin.

Avocados are also incredibly nutritious. You can add them to salads and various recipes or simply scoop them out with a spoon and eat them plain. They have a creamy, rich, fatty texture and blend well with other ingredients.

4: Lemon

Lemon-sugar scrub can make your skin soft and smooth. Just mix a little lemon juice and some sugar in a bowl than scrub it in circular directions and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Sugar is a natural softener for the skin while lemon is a natural source of vitamin C. This scrub works wonders for those with acne-prone skin and you can use it from head to toe.

5: Water

Good old regular plain water will make any skin glow. Aim for at least 8 glasses per day! Our skin is made up of cells that need water to function well and there’s a strong link between drinking more water and having a healthier, more radiant skin.

Don’t wait to get thirsty, stay hydrated! You should also wear sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or above to keep your skin shielded from harmful UV rays. Even on days when it’s raining or the sky is overcast.

Home remedies for glowing skin: Rules

Try not to rob your skin of moisture by washing it too often because you don’t want to encourage pores to produce too much extra oil to compensate. It’s advised to wash your face after you’ve worked up a sweat, first thing in the morning and right before bed.
