Colonic Procedure

Colon Hydrotherapy Sydney

What happens during colonic procedure?

Colonic hydrotherapy is a procedure which has been a practice since ancient times. It effectively cleanses excess waste, pollutants and toxic substances from our bowels and that cleanse can lead to weight loss, better digestion increased energy, and clearer thinking. But is it safe? Is it comfortable?

The colonic procedure is a safe and gentle internal bath. Warm filtered water will we flushed into the colon through a small device called a Speculum. As the water enters, you’ll feel full and relaxed. The waste will be drained away discreetly in a closed system with no odors.
The filling and emptying are repeated several times.

What exactly happens during the Colon Hydrotherapy procedure?

You’ll undress from the waist down and you’ll be properly draped during the session. Then, you’ll be assisted with the self-insertion of a small, plastic speculum. Rectal Nozzles are the size of a pencil, single-use, and disposed of after each use.

Clear tubing attaches the speculum to the hydrotherapy device and a gentle installation of warm, clean, purified water circulates in the rectum. On a cue from you, a “fill” will take place and this pattern will continue until you are ready to empty your bowels. At this time, the installation of water stops and the flow of waste begin. The waste passes through the device on the wall and directly into the plumbing system with no odor and no mess what so ever.

The therapist can stay with you in the room during the entire session and he/she will use special massage techniques on the abdomen to stimulate the release of the waste. Through the whole process, you are lying comfortably on your back, on the massage table with a warm blanket over you. If you prefer privacy, let the therapist know. A bell will be available to call upon assistance if you need anything.

After about forty minutes, the flow of water will be turned off and you’ll be left in privacy if you need to release a few more times. Before leaving, you’ll be given suggestions and recommendations about the aftercare. You should feel fine to drive and carry on with your day as normal.

What are the benefits?

If it’s undertaken as a part of a healthy lifestyle routine, colonic hydrotherapy can support the immune system, improve PH balance, provide a favorable environment for the friendly bacteria, re-enforce psychological resolve towards a healthy diet, stimulate bile production, and improve nutrient absorption. It can also result in increased energy, advanced mental clarity, and clearer skin.

When not to go?

It’s not advisable to undertake colon hydrotherapy if you had recent abdominal, bowel or rectum surgery. Also, if you have an abdominal inguinal hernia, severe hemorrhoids, anal fistula, bowel or rectal cancer, Megacolon, Ileus, active inflammatory bowel conditions, spinal injury or liver, heart and kidney disease.

Children under the age of 15 years of age cannot be treated without a doctor's prior consent and young people aged 15 to 18 can only be treated with a guardian present at all time. If you have any doubt about your medical condition and contra-indications please check with your doctor before making an appointment.

How many treatments do I need?

Your therapist will advise you depending on the outcome of your case history and your own requirements. It’s usually advised to continue with the maintenance treatments every six to twelve weeks.

Someone that has chronic constipation may need several treatments a few days in a row as opposed to some who are looking for preventative measures. Keep in mind that even though one hydrotherapy session may be equivalent to several bowel movements, elimination during subsequent sessions can be even more substantial as older, hardened, impacted feces are dislodged from the colon walls.
